BAY15D Single Colour 50 LED Waterproof Lamp
This waterproof LED Lamp is perfect for replacing 25W incandescent lamps and is particularly useful when used in fixtures that are prone to sea water ingress.
Our high quality single colour 50 LED lamp is designed for use in exposed fixtures. It can replace a 10W or 25W incandescent lamp used in port and starboard navigation lights. These lamps are suitable for all boats up to 20m (65ft) and are ideal for use in both 12 Volt and 24 Volt systems.
The red and green lenses of port and starboard light fixtures will pass pretty much 100% of the LED light output. This creates much brighter lights when compared to a 25W incandescent lamp which only passes a fraction of the light produced through coloured lenses.
Following customer demand we now also stock a cool white lamp that can be used in potentially leaky white lights.
The lamp is constructed using high quality LEDs which are epoxy sealed into an anodised aluminium cylinder and mounted on a corrosion resistant, BAY15D lamp base. Standard LED lamps will deteriorate and if exposed to seawater, soldered joints will simply corrode and eventually fail. It is essential therefore that boat owners maintain their navigation light fixtures to ensure that the manufacturers sealing arrangement remains effective. Flexible sealing strips often harden over time as do rubber grommets commonly used in cable entry glands. Constant exposure to UV will further exacerbate the situation.
In our experience bow mounted navigation are significantly prone to leakage. This is due to regularly being exposed to a dip in the sea in pretty much any sort of weather. The extra water pressure applied can force seawater past the fixture's seals. The tell tale sign of leakage is off white stains found on the original incandescent lamp and inside the lenses.
This lamp is rated IP66 and is generally considered, for practical purposes, to be waterproof.
Our propriety on-board Buck-Boost electronic control circuit ensures that a constant current is maintained through the lamp. This provides a steady bright light output irrespective of any variation in the supply voltage.
Boatlamps recommend using Contralube 770 on all lamp holder contacts and other connections on your boat. This product will protect against contact corrosion which is the most common reason both LED and traditional incandescent lamps flicker or fail.
These lamps are not polarity conscious as they are fitted with a diode bridge rectifier and can therefore be connected either way without damage.

Our LED replaces this bulb type
Try to mount AIS and other sensitive antenna remote from all LED lamps, as far is practicable. Some sensitive receivers can be affected by the low level of EMI emitted from LED lamps.
Important: In common with other replacement LED lamps on the market, it is not possible to have any sort of marine authority certification for individual replacement bulbs. These LED lamps are easily visible at distances exceeding 3nm in standard fixtures and is one of the brightest replacement LED bulbs available. Given the vast array of navigation light fittings installed on marine vessels, it is the user’s decision alone whether to use this product to retrofit any particular light fitting used for navigation purposes.
