New economic high output 3 colour LED lamp for Aqua Signal and Hella Marine tri-colour navigation light fixtures for boats up to 20m (65ft).
On board voltage spike and excess current protection.
Our engineers have developed, built and tested a new, unique tri-colour LED replacement lamp suitable for replacing 25W incandescent lamps widely used in tri-colour mast top fixtures. The lamp is ideal for use on both 12 Volt and 24 Volt systems and has a mast top visibility of +3 nautical miles.
The lamp has been tested in fixtures manufactured by Aqua Signal, Hella Marine, Perko and will suit fixtures manufactured by others. The lamp is suitable for all boats up to 20M. We build this lamp using the latest high output 2835 LEDs and it offers a saving of around 75% in current consumption when compared to the 25W incandescent lamp it replaces.
The lamp produces very bright, red, green and white light from high output 2835 LED arrays that ensure that correct arcs of light are displayed and visible for distances in excess of that required by the COLREGS. The lamps have built in segment shielding to ensure that the coloured lights are separated and align with the coloured and white sectors of the light fixture. The red and green lights are visible for precisely 112.5 degrees and the white stern light visible is through 135 degrees. The BAY15D lamp base is fitted and aligned to ensure perfect alignment for most popular makes of Tri-Colour fixture.
Our lamp is designed to minimise EMI, unlike other similar looking lamps sold for non marine use. We utilise specially designed PCB layouts which avoid tracks acting as antenna that radiate EMI (electromagnetic interference). Our on-board PWM, Buck-Boost, electronic control circuit allows the lamp to operate over a wide voltage range (10-30V DC) and can cope with higher voltages present when smart battery chargers are used.
The lamp has integral electronic self resetting fuse and comes equipped with transient voltage (spike) protection. These combine with 36 high output SMD LEDs to give consistent light output and an extended service life.
Boatlamps recommend using either Contralube 770 or Nyogel 760G gel on all lamp holder contacts and other connections on your boat. This product will protect against contact corrosion which is the most common reason both LED and traditional incandescent lamps flicker or fail in service.
Please regularly check that your navigation light fixtures are water tight. Gaskets harden over time and poorly sealed cable entries are prone to leaking. This is very important for bow mounted fixture that can be submerged occasionally in heavy seas. Our warranty specifically excludes damage to LED lamps due to salt water contamination.
These lamps are not polarity conscious as they are fitted with a diode bridge rectifier and can therefore be connected either way without damage.

Try to mount AIS and other sensitive antenna remote from all LED lamps, as far is practicable. Some sensitive receivers can be affected by the low level of EMI emitted from LED lamps.
Important: In common with other replacement LED lamps on the market, it is not possible to have any sort of marine authority certification for individual replacement bulbs. These LED lamps are easily visible at distances exceeding 3nm in standard fixtures and are the brightest replacement LED bulbs available. Given the vast array of navigation light fittings installed on marine vessels, it is the user's decision alone whether to use this product to retrofit any particular light fitting used for navigation purposes.
